“Wizz Air” announces new direct route from Vilnius to Gdańsk
- News
The airline Wizz Air has announced a new direct route connecting Vilnius with the vibrant Polish coastal city of Gdańsk. Starting from May 2, 2026, this year-round service will further strengthen connectivity between Lithuania and Poland, offering both leisure and business travelers a convenient and affordable way to discover one of the most charming cities in the Baltic Sea region.
Gdańsk is one of Poland’s most picturesque cities, renowned for its maritime heritage, colorful architecture, and beautiful Baltic beaches. Travelers can explore its historic Old Town, visit the impressive St. Mary’s Church, stop by the European Solidarity Centre, or relax in the nearby seaside resorts of Sopot and Gdynia.
Flights will operate four times per week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Tickets are already available on wizzair.com and via the official WIZZ mobile app, with prices starting from €17.99.
“We are delighted to introduce the new Vilnius–Gdańsk route, further expanding our network in the region,” said Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Head of Corporate Communications at Wizz Air. “This new route once again demonstrates our commitment to Lithuania and our goal to offer passengers the lowest fares and the most convenient travel options. Gdańsk, with its rich history and seaside charm, is a perfect destination for a weekend getaway or a short vacation.”
This new route follows last month’s Wizz Air expansion plan announced jointly with Lithuanian Airports during a press conference in Vilnius. The airline revealed plans to significantly expand its operations in Lithuania — launching seven new routes between December 2025 and June 2026, connecting Vilnius and Palanga with new European destinations: Tallinn, Kraków, Tirana, Podgorica, Nice, Turku, and Oslo.
Additionally, this winter Wizz Air will base a third Airbus A321neo aircraft in Vilnius, increasing capacity, creating additional jobs, and strengthening its position as the second-largest airline in Lithuania by market share.
The new route was also welcomed by Simonas Bartkus, CEO of Lithuanian Airports:
“The direct flight to Gdańsk will further strengthen ties between Lithuania and Poland, particularly in the tourism sector. Gdańsk will become the 23rd direct Wizz Air route from Lithuanian airports and another strategically important Polish city accessible via direct flights, alongside Warsaw and Kraków. Interestingly, this will be the shortest Wizz Air route from Lithuania — the flight to Gdańsk is even shorter than the one to Tallinn.”
Wizz Air has been operating in Lithuania since 2005 and has already carried nearly 13 million passengers to and from the country. The airline currently offers 23 routes from Lithuania, connecting travelers to 17 countries through three airports.
The new Gdańsk route is part of Wizz Air’s long-term “Customer First Compass” initiative — a €14 billion investment over three years aimed at improving product quality, pricing, services, and communication.
