Starting May 25, 2024, travelers will have the opportunity to take a direct scheduled flight from Vilnius Airport to Reykjavik, Iceland. This route will be serviced by the Icelandic low-cost carrier, PLAY Airlines, marking the commencement of their operations in Lithuania. The flights will run once a week.

Tickets are now on sale through the airline’s official website. The airline utilizes state-of-the-art Airbus A320 or Airbus 321neo aircraft for its operations.

Tomas Zitikis, Head of Route Development at Lithuanian Airports, emphasizes that the introduction of a new airline to our market will open up greater possibilities for travelers to explore Iceland.

“It’s important to highlight that this airline not only provides regular flights between Iceland and various European airports but also facilitates connections for passengers to destinations along the East Coast of the United States and Canada,” notes Zitikis.

”It’s no secret that Iceland and Lithuania have had a long-distance love affair for over thirty years, or since Iceland supported the Baltic independence. That is why we are so happy to be able to offer the residents of Vilnius our flights to Iceland. It is also no secret that we offer competitive prices everywhere we go, so we hope we will strengthen the bond between these two great nations even further with our services this summer,“ says PLAY’s CEO, Birgir Jónsson.
