Aviation company GetJet Airlines has won the land lease auction organized by Lithuanian Airports (LTOU) in late 2024 for a site within Vilnius Airport. The company has been granted the right to manage a 4,664 sq. m plot at Vilnius Airport under a long-term lease agreement for 40 years. GetJet Airlines plans to construct a state-of-the-art hangar at the location to expand its aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services.
According to GetJet Airlines CEO Inga Duglas, design and construction work will begin soon, with the first aircraft expected to be serviced in the new facility by 2028.
“We are delighted to contribute to the development of Vilnius Airport and strengthen Lithuania’s position as a key aviation hub in the region. Ahead of us lies the design and construction phase, followed by the formation of a new team of specialists,” said Duglas.
The company plans to invest €10 million in the project between 2025 and 2028.
“We are pleased to welcome a new investor in the land lease sector—especially one that is already well-established in the Lithuanian aviation industry. It is crucial to emphasize that businesses operating in this airport area will create high-value-added products and employ highly skilled professionals. Additionally, Lithuanian Airports is already a regional leader in MRO services, particularly due to the companies operating at Kaunas Airport. Now, we are taking another significant step to strengthen this leadership at Vilnius Airport as well,” said Lithuanian Airports CEO Simonas Bartkus.
The new MRO hangar at Vilnius Airport is expected to create around 50 new jobs, attracting highly qualified professionals. The team will include maintenance engineers, avionics experts, technicians, engine maintenance specialists, as well as planning, quality control, and logistics professionals, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the facility.
