From the beginning of May, the cargo segment at Vilnius Airport is growing even more significantly – Turkish Cargo has introduced an additional cargo route between Istanbul, Kyiv and Vilnius. This flight is operated every Tuesday. It is said that development of cargo flights is mainly induced by the potential of e-commerce that is continuing to grow, also by growing flows of goods from the Asian region to Lithuania and surrounding markets.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Turkish Cargo will operate three weekly flights through Vilnius Airport – \u200btwo other weekly scheduled cargo flights will continue to be operated on the route between Istanbul, Vilnius and Prague.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe can see that the cargo segment is in the active growth stage. There is a relatively high demand in the market for quick delivery of goods dispatched from distant countries. For this reason, we offered Turkish Cargo to expand its activities. We competed markedly with the surrounding airports, and especially with Riga Airport. And the result is very useful to us – another cargo flight and additional value for the whole market. As per the promotion scheme, a measure for increasing the frequency of cargo flights – discount on landing fees for the said additional scheduled flight – will be used in respect of this company\u201c, – says Aurimas Stikli\u016bnas, Head of Aviation Services at Lithuanian Airports. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

According to the representative of Lithuanian Airports, Turkish Cargo occupy about one third of the share of transported cargo market at the airports of our country. Therefore, an additional plane will significantly increase the cargo transportation volume. It is said that additional frequencies of cargo flights not only allow to ensure the possibility of receiving the ordered cargo or other goods faster, but also an even more convenient opportunity to establish a business relationship with distant countries, to increase export volume.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Turkish Cargo is a cargo transportation subsidiary of the world-renowned Turkish Airlines. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, cargo is regularly carried by air from Lithuanian airports by three more airlines – European Air Transport (DHL), ASL Airlines Belgium and Sprint Air. In the first three months of 2021, in all three airports of the country the total of cargo carried by air amounted to 4.87 thousand tons. The biggest amount of cargo \u2013 3.7 thousand tons was transported at Vilnius Airport. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
