During the official launch event, Aegean Airlines&#8217; representative emphasized that this route is an excellent option for leisure travelers to regularly access Greece and its islands.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are delighted to launch a new direct flight between Athens and Vilnius. This route reflects our commitment to expanding our operations in the Baltic region. Lithuanian passengers from Vilnius can travel directly to Athens twice a week, and then onwards to other Greek, European, and Middle Eastern destinations via our extensive network,&#8221; commented Dirk Steffensen, Aegean Airlines representative.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to note that regular flights will be operated twice a week on Airbus A320 aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>Simonas Bartkus, CEO of Lithuanian Airports, stressed that the Greek airline will join the growing ranks of traditional airlines at the capital&#8217;s airport.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is crucial for us as an airport to ensure that our country&#8217;s travelers have a more convenient way to reach popular holiday destinations. It is also important that a significant portion of passengers can conveniently use connecting flights through the Greek capital and reach an even wider range of countries or regions around the world,&#8221; said Simonas Bartkus, CEO of Lithuanian Airports.<\/p>\n<p>Aegean Airlines has become the 10th legacy airline to operate flights at Vilnius Airport. The airline is the national Greek carrier, which in 2023 offered a total of 180 different destinations in 49 countries within its network.<\/p>\n<p>Aegean Airlines plans to operate flights on the Vilnius-Athens route until October.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Lithuanian Airports<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lithuanian Airports is a state-owned enterprise that operates three international airports in Lithuania: Vilnius Airport, Kaunas Airport, and Palanga Airport.
