On Monday, a symbolic autograph of Mikalojus Konstantinas \u010ciurlionis was ceremoniously unveiled at Vilnius \u010ciurlionis Airport. To mark the 150th anniversary of the artist\u2019s birth, a replica of his autograph has been placed on the fa\u00e7ade of the new departure terminal. The symbolic unveiling event was attended by representatives of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Vilnius City Municipality, and Lithuanian Airports (LTOU).<\/b><\/p>\n
The unveiling of the autograph is another step in honoring the name of this exceptional artist at Vilnius Airport and showcasing it to millions of travelers. According to the authors of the idea, the autograph symbolically \u201cguides\u201d every person arriving in or departing from Lithuania. Inside the airport, the line of \u010ciurlionis branches out into a wide tree of creativity\u2014millions of travelers here experience the genius\u2019s work through visual, auditory, and reflective art solutions that present one of Lithuania\u2019s most prominent creators.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince the beginning of the year, Vilnius Airport has implemented a wide range of integrations dedicated to honoring M. K. \u010ciurlionis\u2019 name\u2014from signs, various markings, and reproductions of paintings, to music and even the filming of a concert that was later broadcast on national television. This autograph is like the crown of all the measures we have already introduced. We feel that the symbolic naming of Vilnius Airport has been successfully integrated and widely visible to the millions of passengers who choose the capital\u2019s airport for their journeys,\u201d said Simonas Bartkus, CEO of Lithuanian Airports.<\/p>\n
Travelers at Vilnius Airport are reminded that they can listen to \u010ciurlionis\u2019 musical works, enjoy reproductions of his paintings, and immerse themselves in artistic installations. Earlier this year, a special concert\u00a0\u201cNight at Vilnius \u010ciurlionis Airport\u201d<\/i>\u00a0was filmed at the airport and later broadcast on national television on March 11.<\/p>\n

One of the most symbolic highlights of the anniversary is the naming of Vilnius International Airport after \u010ciurlionis. By decision of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2029, the airport will be symbolically known as\u00a0\u201cVilnius \u010ciurlionis International Airport.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
The Government Chancellery-led initiative\u00a0\u201cMikalojus Konstantinas \u010ciurlionis\u2019 150th Anniversary\u201d<\/i>\u00a0(September 19\u201322) has become the country\u2019s largest cultural celebration of the year: more than 200 cultural and educational events dedicated to \u010ciurlionis\u2019 birthday are taking place across Lithuania and abroad.<\/p>\n
