Starting March 29, 2026, the regular flight schedule at Kaunas Airport will be expanded with a new route \u2014 airBaltic will begin operating direct flights to Riga. The announcement was made on Wednesday, as new passenger areas were opened and the Kaunas Airport terminal expansion project approaches completion.<\/p>\n
Representatives of Lithuanian Airports (LTOU) emphasize that the launch of this route marks an important step in further improving air connectivity from Kaunas Airport and demonstrates the success of the long-term partnership with airBaltic. The new airBaltic flights will operate five times per week.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis new route will open more opportunities for both business and leisure travelers in the Kaunas region. Through Riga, passengers will have convenient one-stop connections to the most popular European destinations, including Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg, Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Tallinn, Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, London, Vienna, Zurich, and many others,\u201d said Mantas Vrubliauskas, Vice President of Network Development at airBaltic.<\/p>\n
According to Simonas Bartkus, CEO of Lithuanian Airports, the new route is the result of joint efforts.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are pleased not only to be moving steadily toward completing the Kaunas Airport terminal expansion, but also that, thanks to the joint efforts of Kaunas IN representatives and the Kaunas City Municipality, Kaunas Airport will soon enjoy convenient, almost daily connections to Riga. The connecting flights via Riga, in addition to 28 existing direct routes from Kaunas, will allow travelers from across Europe to reach Kaunas in a short time. This will undoubtedly contribute to the economic growth and tourism potential of the Kaunas region,\u201d said Bartkus.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe range of flights at Lithuanian airports continues to grow, making travel increasingly convenient. The new direct Kaunas\u2013Riga flight will provide an easy way to reach the neighboring capital and continue traveling onward. Kaunas Airport is becoming an increasingly important part of the country\u2019s airport network \u2014 meaning travelers have more choices and better connections. It is worth noting that airBaltic has previously operated regular flights between Kaunas and Riga, which continued until 2014.<\/p>\n
