Training

From the beginning of 2011 instructors of Vilnius International Airport organise training for airport staff and various companies on aviation security, fire safety, etc. All our instructors are certified by the Administration of Civil Aviation for delivering training on aviation security, have certificates issued by the aviation security training centre approved by the ICAO, meet other requirements set by the general rules of the European Parliament and the Council, and possess extensive experience in this field. All persons who have received aviation security training at Vilnius Airport are issued a completion certificate.

Since Lithuania joined the Convention on International Civil Aviation and became a member of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the European Union, requirements to ensure aviation security have become even more important and stricter. This is why it is essential for all Lithuanian companies related to activities carried out at airports to have a sound understanding of the procedures and the latest requirements applied in this field.

The main aims of training are as follows

Introducing and teaching airport staff and other companies carrying out their activities within the territory of the airport how properly and efficiently to ensure aviation security and fire safety
Maintaining the staff’s knowledge and skills pursuant to the required standards

Classrooms

Vilnius International Airport has two classrooms for training. The capacity of the main classroom is up to 20 persons. It has 3 computerised working places with x-ray image imitation equipment, a board, a slide projector, video and stereo equipment. Training participants receive visual material and any other material necessary for professional training.

The capacity of the other classroom is bigger – up to 50 persons.

The Joint stock company Lithuanian Airports organizes fire safety training courses when a group of at least 10 persons is formed. One group in the training courses on fire safety of Lithuanian Airports can be comprised of max 30 persons.

Programme of fire safety training courses is drawn up on the basis of minimum requirements for fire safety training programmes designed for civil servants and employees.Training course of fire safety shall cover the following topics:

Flammability of materials. The main causes of fire (duration 20 min.).
The main legislative requirements regulating fire safety for the object and individual work fields (duration 40 min.):
- territory maintenance;
- buildings, individual buildings and premises;
- electric equipment;
- heating and ventilation;
- technological processes;
- transportation of hazardous materials;
- storage of materials;
- construction works;
- fire-related works.
Fire-fighting equipment and peculiarities of its usage (duration 30 min.):
- stationary fire extinguishing systems;
- fire detection systems and fire signalling systems;
- fire alarm systems and evacuation management systems;
- building interior water-supply systems for fire-fighting;
- exterior water-supply systems for fire-fighting;
- smoke and heat control systems;
- primary fire-fighting equipment (it is recommended to try using fire extinguishers of powder type).
Actions in case of fire (duration 25 min.).
Employees’ rights and duties in the field of fire safety. Liability for violation of legislation regulating fire safety (duration 5 min.).
Practical training involving fire extinguishers (duration 1 hour).

Pricelist of Joint stock company Lithuanian Airports, Vilnius Branch, for personal and vehicle permits to enter the controlled area:

price for a permanent permit with a code (activated by the access control system): EUR 19.29, VAT excl. If Vilnius Airport permanent permit authorises access to the controlled area at Kaunas Airport or Palanga Airport, EUR 2.97, VAT excl., is added to the base amount.
